Birch Point
A black accent chest is a reminder of the days of ship travel, and the artwork in Birch Point exemplifies the treasures brought home to Bar Harbor from foreign lands. The northern exposure is perfect for artists and anyone who likes calm, even light. Birch Point is on the first floor.
The point of land on which the town pier is located is Birch Point. Tradition has it that Alpheus Hardy, who built his cottage there, was the first Bar Harbor cottager. Hardy was sociable and convinced many of his friends to build in Bar Harbor as well, and so the summer population began to swell. His ward, J. Montgomery Sears, built The Briars. Birch Point was demolished in 1938.
